Yes, here we are in Surprise, Arizona. It’s one of the many suburbs of Phoenix, with endless shopping malls and strips, that run into the next burb, in all directions. It also has endless, huge RV resorts where snowbirds come for the winter, with all the conveniences of home, and then some. I’m not at one of the big resorts. I’m at a little dinky RV Park with a lot of full time residents. I have a nice grassy yard though with palm trees and a yucca and some other lovely bushy tree that the birds love.

Anyway, Surprise has something that no one else has and that’s Victor at Fantasy Window Tinting. WS is going to get her windows tinted! And JR is going to get her two front-side windows tinted. (The rest were tinted when I bought her.)

So that’s the surprise in Surprise. It’s all going down tomorrow morning at 9am. Fantasy Window Tinting is only a couple miles from Donorma RV Park where we are staying.

I’m very excited about this because I’m tired of the fish bowl effect, and feeling like I need to keep the curtains drawn.

I chose Victor to do this job because he comes highly recommended. I’ll let you know how it all turns out.

Friday morning I plan to leave the big city behind and head for the boonies. I’ve got somewhere in mind that I’ve not been yet and I’m hoping it works out. Not sure if I’ll have a decent internet connection there. I’m considering getting a second carrier, at least for emergencies. Anyone have suggestions about that especially for southern Arizona? I realize the obvious answer is Verizon, but I’ve talked to them and their ‘deal’ doesn’t seem that good to me.

PS. I meant to tell you that dogs are allowed on the trails at Montesuzma Castle National Monument and at Montezuma Well National Monument!

Hi, what a wonderful name for a town – Surprise. I hope the window tinting works beautifully. How do you currently connect to the internet?

    • Hi Cathy, and welcome! Thanks for your good wishes on the window tinting.

About the Internet, if there is free internet where I’m staying, I try to use it. Often that doesn’t work though. If there is a good ATT signal I can connect with cellular to my phone and pad, and with my little hot spot, I can connect with those or my laptop. I have a booster on a pole that I can attach to the outside of the trailer if the ATT signal is poor. But if there is no ATT at all, the booster won’t work, so I have nothing.

Thanks for that information. I follow your blog regularly and have recently begun to contemplate the rv lifestyle. Like you, I would be single on the road. A recent post addressed one of my fears – that of backing up but I also wonder if you are ever afraid.

        • The RV lifestyle is exciting to think about isn’t it Cathy? The few years I spent thinking and planning and learning were really fun, and I can tell you I haven’t been disappointed.

Backing up WS….I’ve got a real hang up about that. i think its my biggest stress. I’ve done it. I do it if I just HAVE to, but if I can avoid it or get someone to do it for me, I do.

Fears…someone asked me about that recently. Yes, I have had times when I’m afraid. Not often, and it’s usually short lived. If I let my imagination go, there are many things I can think of that I could be afraid of, so I do try to keep that in check and think positive. I listed some affirmations from Louise Hay last time and I’ll do it again, because it’s good to think them and write them.
          I am always safe.

Everything I need to know is revealed to me.

Everything I need comes to me in the perfect time, space and sequence.

Life is a joy and filled with love.

I prosper where ever I turn.

I am willing to change and grow.

All is well in my world.
Also please know that I do keep various forms of physical protection with me!

Thank you for those wonderful reminders from Louise Hay. Isn’t she an enlightened soul! I’ve never been a fearful or timid person but I’ve wondered if I would have trouble sleeping due to the difference in sounds from place to place. Would I be awake “listening” or is this just something to get used to just like moving to a new residence. It’s funny because nothing else about this lifestyle gives me pause except backing up and sleeping. I hope it’s a situation where I look back and laugh at how silly I was.

If you are a few miles from larger metropolitan areas it is doubtful that you are going to get acceptable service from ATT. Verizon is “the” internet provider for boondockers and many times they are poor but they are the cleanest dirty shirt in the basket.

    • Yes I have heard Verizon has better coverage. I keep hearing that actually. I don’t want to give up ATT with roll over data and the bonus data they just gave me. The southwest seems to be the biggest problem for ATT. I wish they would just fix that, darn it.

  3. Fnet4444…whom I think is Cathy, 😊, I’ve gotta say that most noises at night don’t bother me. Depending on where I am they can be very different. Cars or trucks going by, trains, coyotes, occasionally happy folks around a campfire. Sometimes an animal will knock something over. Rain…lovely…lightening, thunder.
I always know in the back of my mind that my dogs are my alert system. If they hear something that they are suspicious about they would let know. It almost never happens.
